HEALTH, SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENT



This service aims to provide information and guidance regarding all stages of the occupational health and safety program, including environmental control, fire safety, safety training seminars, and building and equipment design criteria.

The Department of Human Resources and Education, headed by Mr Andreas Kazamias, is responsible for the provision, prevention and proper care and management of occupational accidents, diseases and disabilities / special needs, the protection of health and the maintenance of a safe and productive environment for all our staff at the German Oncology Center.

In addition to designing and implementing a range of voluntary run services across the organisation, this department also organizes training sessions on our policies which ensure a safe work environment regarding:

Emergency service provision: Fire, earthquakes etc.


Hazard Communications


Bloodborne pathogen exposure


Radiation protection

AIMED AT QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Our mission is to offer high quality medical services to each and every patient who entrust us with their care. Our Center meets all necessary quality standards and regulations set by the State.

In this regard, GOC was awarded the following certifications:
-EN ISO 9001: Quality Management System in all its services, awarded in 2015, and
-ELOT Standard 1801: Management Systems for Occupational Safety and Health, awarded in 2008.

All operational procedures of the GOC have been successfully audited by the certification authority Q-CERT. This confirms that our hospital operates effectively and offers services of high-quality.

Focusing on each and every patient, and guided by our motto: “We can always do better”, the GOC Management Team:

  • Will meet the requirements and needs of the public, always operating within the relevant laws and regulations.
  • Will implement, review and improve the services offered on an ongoing basis, and will continuously monitor and check on their effectiveness.
  • Will invest in education and updated training programmes, enabling staff to promote quality and contemporary practice in all areas and activities.

The effective implementation of the Quality Management System is under the constant supervision and support of the Management of the Department of Human Resources and the Management of the Center.

AGAINST BULLYING AT THE WORKSPACE

Our main objective is to provide a healthy and safe environment for all our employees, patients and visitors. Violent or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated, as this goes against our philosophy and principles. Management always takes appropriate and necessary measures to prevent such actions and conducts regular staff training seminars to assess any risk and to deal with any potential incidents effectively. In this context we cooperate with law enforcement and other authorities within our local community.

CLEAN ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

The GOC has developed and implemented a comprehensive Environmental Management System.

  • To constantly improve and enrich the services it offers at all levels.
  • To safely manage waste from all our operational functions and activities, and to ensure that public and environmental health are maintained at all times and under every circumstance.
  • To respond immediately to any urgent need for humanitarian aid, and to implement our multi-dimensional social assistance programs.
  • To comply with the current environmental legislation and regulations governing the National Health System of Cyprus.
  • To continuously improve its environmental impact footprint, preventing and avoiding pollution.
  • To take all necessary measures to address environmental issues related to its activities, and to ensure the rational management of resources.

Our Center’s environmental policy is particularly focused on:

  • Waste managements of Sanitary Units.
  • Managing of all solid and liquid waste, giving priority to their separate collection and recycling / management.
  • Providing proper energy management, through the development of a system which monitors the consumption of natural resources.
  • Updating management and staff on all environmental issues.
  • Training programs for all employees.
  • Cooperation with local and national authorities on all issues regarding health, safety and environmental protection.
